Customer story

How a global information-services provider delivered 5.4 million private-company records into its data products.

Veridion's company knowledge graph supplies the private-company depth underneath the customer's data products: 5.4 million unique records delivered into the platform's pipelines, classified across the taxonomies its institutional clients work in, and refreshed on the news cycle's clock rather than the disclosure cycle's.

A major acquisition put private coverage on the agenda

The customer is one of the largest global information-services companies (credit ratings, financial-intelligence platforms, indices, commodity and energy markets, mobility, and ESG analytics), all delivered to a global base of institutional clients. Its market-intelligence side (the data products that asset managers, hedge funds, sell-side analysts, and corporate strategists work in) sits on the same structural foundation every financial-intelligence platform runs: deep on the listed and disclosure-rich universe, uneven on the long tail of private operating companies the institutional client base increasingly needs to see.

A major 2022 acquisition expanded the platform's data-products surface considerably and put private-company coverage at the top of the strategic data agenda. The brief was specific: license private-company data at scale into the customer's product surface, integrated against its existing identifier system, classified across the taxonomies its products work in, and refreshed often enough that the data clients consume keeps pace with the source it's drawn from.

Serialised batches sized to the platform's cadence

The customer licensed Veridion's company knowledge graph as the data layer underneath its private-company data programme. Records flow into the customer's content pipelines through Veridion's Match & Enrich layer, which resolves Veridion's entity keys against the customer's identifier system without forcing migration, with confidence scores and source-evidence attached at the attribute level so the data passes through to the regulated-platform contexts the customer's clients work in.

Each operating company in the graph carries its full classification record across NAICS, SIC, ISIC, NACE, NCCI, IBC, and Veridion's proprietary business tags, so records arrive correctly coded across every taxonomy a downstream product touches. The graph itself runs to 134M+ operating companies, refreshed weekly on the core graph and daily on volatile attributes.

Delivery runs as a serialised batch programme: record batches sized to the platform's ingest cadence rather than as a single one-shot dump. The pattern lets the customer's content team absorb each batch, validate against its existing data, and shape downstream products on it as it lands.

Private coverage now mirrors the listed universe

For the customer's institutional clients, the practical effect is that private-company coverage on the platform now reflects the same operational reality the disclosure-rooted data has long captured for the listed universe, pulled from a graph that refreshes on the news cycle's clock rather than the disclosure cycle's.
